Congressman Jim Baird (IN-04) has announced the commencement of the 2024 Congressional Art Competition for students in grades 7 through 12 from Indiana’s 4th Congressional District. Baird expressed his enthusiasm for the competition, stating, “I’m pleased to announce that my office is currently accepting submissions for the 2024 Congressional Art Competition. This is an amazing opportunity for aspiring young artists to showcase their talents and display their original work in our nation’s capital. I hope every student in the fourth district with an artistic background will send in a submission, whether they’re preparing for art school or just beginning to develop their skills.”

The winner of the competition will have their artwork showcased in the U.S. Capitol for a year and will receive a complimentary trip to Washington, D.C. to witness their creation on display. Additionally, the winning artwork will be featured on the U.S. House of Representatives Congressional Art Competition Page.

To participate in the competition, students, teachers, and parents are encouraged to submit one piece of original art to the district office in Danville, along with the required student release form. The deadline for submissions is Monday, May 6th, 2024, at 4 PM EST. Baird's office has provided clear guidelines for eligibility and submission, emphasizing that all entries must be original and adhere to specific size and medium requirements.

Artwork submissions must be two-dimensional and can include various mediums such as paintings, drawings, collages, prints, mixed media, computer-generated art, and photographs. Each entry must be unique in concept, design, and execution, without violating U.S. copyright laws.

Interested participants can find more information and download the student release form on the official website. Submissions can be sent via mail or dropped off at the district office in Danville. The address for submissions is as follows: Office of Congressman Jim Baird, 355 S. Washington St, Danville, Indiana 46122.

With the opportunity to have their artwork displayed prominently in the nation's capital, students are encouraged to submit their best work for consideration in the 2024 Congressional Art Competition.
