Fort Wayne Community Schools is preparing for the start of the new academic year with several events and initiatives. The district will hold its annual Back-to-School Block Party as a way to mark the beginning of classes.

Transition Day, aimed at helping students adjust to new school environments, is scheduled for Tuesday, July 29. Sixth graders entering middle school and ninth graders starting high school will participate in activities from 8 a.m. to noon that day.

In-school registration for all elementary, middle, and high schools within the district will take place on Thursday, July 24. Registration hours are set from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The Fort Wayne Virtual Academy (FWVA), which offers virtual learning options, is expanding its services. The program will now be available to any student in grades 6-12 throughout Indiana.

Additionally, educators and technology professionals are expected to attend the FWCS ignitED classroom technology conference on Tuesday, July 15. The event will run from 7:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Northrop High School located at 7001 Coldwater Road.
