Senator Jim Banks, representing Indiana’s 3rd district in the U.S. Congress since 2017, has recently addressed several issues through his social media platform. His comments reflect ongoing concerns about national security and domestic manufacturing.

On May 14, 2025, Senator Banks expressed concern over the use of American research and technology by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). He emphasized that this situation is bolstering China’s military capabilities and preparing them for potential conflict. “The CCP is using OUR research & tech against us—strengthening their military & preparing for war.” He announced a legislative proposal aimed at preventing U.S. tax dollars from supporting such developments.

Later that day, Senator Banks shared a positive encounter with local leadership in Indiana. “Great to meet with Wabash Mayor Scott Long today!” This meeting underscores his engagement with local governance and community affairs.

On May 15, 2025, he highlighted the risks associated with dependence on China for pharmaceuticals. “Relying on communist China for medicine is a threat to American health AND security.” He praised Secretary Robert Kennedy Jr.’s efforts to relocate pharmaceutical manufacturing back to the United States as a measure to enhance national health security.

Jim Banks was born in Columbia City, Indiana in 1979 and graduated from Indiana University Bloomington in 2004 with a BA. Prior to serving in Congress, he was part of the Indiana Senate from 2010 to 2016.
