Jim Banks, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Indiana’s 3rd district since 2017, recently shared his views on several issues via social media. Known for his conservative stance, Banks addressed topics ranging from parental rights to local governance and public health policy.

On March 5, 2025, Jim Banks expressed concern over government intervention in parental rights. He criticized the idea that “the government could punish parents for protecting their kids from radical gender ideology” as “insane.” Banks highlighted his legislative efforts with Senator Tom Cotton to counteract such measures by proposing a bill that would “defund states that try to strip parents of their rights.” “The idea that the government could punish parents for protecting their kids from radical gender ideology is insane.”

Reflecting on his experience as a former county councilman, he stated that “local government is the best government closest to the people.” He also mentioned meeting with local officials from the Association of Indiana Counties at his office in Washington D.C., underscoring his continued engagement with local governmental bodies. “As a former county councilman I know local government is the best government closest to the people.”

In another post dated March 5, 2025, Banks revisited discussions surrounding COVID-19 policies. He supported Dr. Jay Bhattacharya’s opposition to lockdowns and school closures during the pandemic, quoting Dr. Bhattacharya’s statement that keeping students out of schools was “a grave injustice.” Contrasting this view with Dr. Anthony Fauci’s dismissal of these ideas as “total nonsense,” Banks concluded by advocating for Dr. Bhattacharya’s appointment at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). “During COVID, @DrJBhattacharya was outspokenly against lockdowns…”
