Jim Banks, a U.S. Congressman representing Indiana’s 3rd district since 2017, recently took to social media to share his thoughts and actions concerning political events and appointments. Known for his active engagement on platforms like X (formerly Twitter), Banks has been vocal about various issues.

On March 22, 2025, Banks commented on a gathering organized by the “indivisible” Democrat anti-Trump/Banks group. He remarked that the group seemed particularly angry during their “town hall” event. In an attempt to lighten the atmosphere, he sent them donuts. “The ‘indivisible’ Democrat anti-Trump/Banks group held a ‘town hall’ yesterday. Seemed like they were REALLY angry so I sent my favorite donuts hoping to lighten the mood. You won’t want to miss what happened next!”

Two days later, on March 24, 2025, Banks revisited the topic of the donut gesture in another post. He noted that Democrats apparently did not appreciate the free donuts and encouraged followers to listen to KH Blakeslee’s perspective on the rally where he had sent the treats. “Who doesn’t like free donuts?? Apparently Democrats don’t. Listen to @KHBlakeslee’s take on the Democrat anti-Trump/Banks rally that I sent free donuts to on Friday.”

Later that same day, Banks confirmed John Phelan’s appointment as Secretary of the Navy via another tweet. He expressed confidence in Phelan’s ability to address complex military challenges with innovative thinking and entrepreneurial skills. “CONFIRMED: Secretary of the Navy John Phelan As our military faces increasingly complicated challenges, John will bring an entrepreneurial skillset and fresh thinking to the Navy.”
