Today, Congressman Jim Baird from Indiana’s 4th District shared his perspective on the recent vote regarding H.R. 1968, the Full-Year Continuing Appropriations and Extensions Act of 2025. He explained his decision to support the Continuing Resolution (CR), emphasizing its role in maintaining current spending levels and preventing a government shutdown.

Baird stated, “While this bill is not perfect, I voted for this Continuing Resolution (CR) because it freezes spending levels, prevents a costly shutdown, and ensures critical programs and services such as Medicare, Social Security, and Veterans’ benefits can continue without disruption.”

He highlighted that the resolution offers Congress and President Trump an opportunity to focus on important issues for Hoosier families. These include implementing historic tax cuts, securing borders, and addressing inefficiencies within federal agencies.

Baird criticized House Democrats for what he described as political maneuvering aimed at obstructing the President’s agenda. “House Democrats are playing absurd political games and voted to shut down the government to thwart the President’s successful America First agenda,” he said.

In contrast, Baird praised House Republicans for their efforts to enact lasting changes in Washington. “House Republicans are unlocking the ability to make lasting changes to Washington, D.C. so that the government works for the American people, not the other way around,” he concluded.
