In a tweet dated June 5, 2025, Rep. Stutzman highlighted the impact of emergency spending on the national debt. He stated that "OVER $14 TRILLION DOLLARS OF OUR NATIONAL DEBT CAN BE ATTRIBUTED TO EMERGENCY SPENDING" He announced his new legislation titled the Emergency Spending Accountability Act, which aims to address this issue by requiring the federal government to pay off future emergency spending by 20% each year for five years.
