RICHMOND, Ind. - Ava Wittrock from Mount Notre Dame (Ohio) High School has signed a letter of intent to play women's soccer at Indiana University East starting with the 2022 season.
Red Wolves coach Shane Meridith made the announcement on June 15.
"I couldn't be more proud and excited for the commitment of Ava to IU East," said Jay Kiley, who is the head coach at the Total Futbol Academy. "Ava is a perfect example of how having a dedicated attitude and work ethic will lead you to great things. She has been a leader and teammate on her team and will be a great asset to IU East. I will deeply miss Ava and her positive attitude as she begins the next chapter of her life but look forward to seeing great success and accomplishments she will achieve."
During Wittrock's senior year at Mount Notre Dame, the Cougars finished 22-0-1 as they won the 2021 Ohio Div. 1 state championship with a 4-1 victory over Walsh Jesuit (Cuyahoga Falls).
Ava is the daughter of Tara and Joe Wittrock with plans to study Physical Therapy, Human Life Science and Biology.
"I chose IU East because I loved the academics and location of the school," Wittrock said of her decision to join the Red Wolves. "Another reason was because of the soccer program. I think IU East is a perfect fit for me."
Wittrock is another member of the 2022 IU East women's soccer recruiting class to be announced this spring.
IU East is an NAIA program. The Red Wolves have won the River States Conference Tournament twice and as a result reached the NAIA National Championships in 2019 and 2020-21.
