Kaiah Haberkorn from Plainfield (Ind.) High School has signed a letter of intent to play women's soccer at Indiana University East starting with the 2022 season.
Red Wolves coach Shane Meridith made the announcement on June 17.
A recent graduate from the University of Indianapolis, Haberkorn played three seasons for the Greyhounds at the NCAA Div. II level.
"Kaiah is an exceptional player and teammate," said Manchester University Head Coach Katie Mitchell, who was an assistant at UIndy when Haberkorn played there.
"You can always count on her to put in 110 percent effort into everything she does," Mitchell continued. "Her positive and competitive mindset is contagious and she will always put the team first. She is a great leader on and off the field."
During Haberkorn's freshman season, UIndy advanced to the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA Div. II Tournament in 2019. She played as a defender and spent some time as a goalkeeper.
In the classroom at UIndy, she was Academic All-Great Lakes Valley Conference and on the Honor Roll and Dean's List.
At Plainfield, Haberkorn was a third team All-State selection in 2017-2018, as Quakers won a sectional title in 2017. She was also All-Conference, All-County and All District.
The daughter of Kelly and Dave Haberkorn, Kaiah is planning on working toward a Masters of Liberal Studies with a Biology Certificate.
"I felt welcomed by the coaches and girls immediately," Kaiah said. "I think it will be a great opportunity to finish out my soccer career and get an advanced degree from a great school. I am beyond excited to become a Red Wolf."
"I would say that I have two favorite memories. Haberkorn add. "The first is my junior year of high school when we won the sectional championship for the first time in school history. It was on our home field and I had two goals that day. My second memory would be my freshman year when I got to experience the NCAA tournament for the first time."
Haberkorn is another member of the 2022 IU East women's soccer recruiting class to be announced this spring.
IU East is an NAIA program. The Red Wolves have won the River States Conference Tournament twice and as a result reached the NAIA National Championships in 2019 and 2020-21.
