1965 Palm Sunday Tornadoes Program on August 30
Local author Janis Thornton will talk about her book “The 1965 Palm Sunday Tornadoes in Indiana.” The 1965 Palm Sunday tornadoes reportedly left 137 Hoosiers dead and more than 1,700 injured. The death toll surpassed the combined fatalities in all the other states hit by tornadoes that fateful day — Iowa, Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan, and Ohio.
Attendees that remember the 1965 tornadoes will be invited after the presentation to share their stories from that day as well.
Registration not required, but feel free to sign up with an email address or phone number to get a reminder.
