Rep. Marlin Stutzman, a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Indiana's 3rd district, recently used his social media platform to address issues ranging from gender identity to the ongoing government shutdown.

On November 6, 2025, Stutzman wrote: "BIG WIN for human rights today as SCOTUS confirmed there are only 2 genders! Whether it’s passports or bathrooms, allowing fantasy third, fourth, and fifth genders goes against the Bible AND common sense. I will NEVER support forcing radical gender ideology on Americans!"

The following day, he commented on the effects of the federal government shutdown. On November 7, 2025, he posted: "The shutdown is having real consequences. Unions and employers are BEGGING Democrats to stop starving their workers. How many cries for help to the Democrats need to see before they choose to turn the lights back on?"

Later that same day, Stutzman continued his criticism of Democratic lawmakers regarding the shutdown with another post: "Democrats are responsible for the longest government shutdown in U.S. history. There’s no reason to keep the government closed and make Americans suffer longer!"

Government shutdowns have occurred periodically in recent decades when Congress fails to pass appropriations bills or continuing resolutions needed to fund federal agencies. These events often result in furloughs for federal employees and interruptions in public services until a funding agreement is reached.

Stutzman's comments come amid ongoing partisan disputes over budget priorities and policy provisions attached to spending legislation.
