Congressman Jim Baird (IN-04) issued a statement following the announcement of Lucas Shireley, a student at Mooresville High School, as the winner of the 2024 Congressional Art Competition for Indiana’s 4th Congressional District.
“The Congressional Art Competition is one of my favorite times of the year because I get to see the incredible artistic talent that exists in Indiana’s 4th District. I’m so proud of our winner, Lucas, and every student who participated in this year’s competition. If you’re a high school student in the Fourth District and are interested in participating in next year’s competition, please reach out to our office and we will get you the information you need. After all, winning a trip to D.C. to see your artwork displayed in the Capitol is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.”
This year, 26 artwork pieces were submitted representing 13 different schools and eight different counties.
The winning entry was an oil painting titled “Frederick” by Lucas Shireley from Mooresville High School.
