Due to the Dupont Road and Auburn Road Turn Lane Improvement Project, Auburn Road is closed to northbound traffic between Dupont Road and Trader’s Crossing. The road remains open to southbound traffic. This closure is expected to last until July 13. Additionally, the intersection of Auburn Road and Dupont Road has lane restrictions for the installation of positive offset left turns, with work anticipated to continue until July 26, weather permitting.

This project aims to enhance safety by improving left-turn lanes at all four legs of the intersection, adding a positive offset. According to the Federal Highway Administration, positive offset left-turn lanes can reduce injury and fatal crashes by 36%. Due to changing traffic patterns in the area, the City plans to implement these improvements at as many intersections as possible because of their safety benefits.

The project will also involve removing existing medians, patching, applying pavement markings, and reinstalling traffic detector loops. The anticipated completion date for the entire project is September 1, 2024.
