August 1, 2024 - The City of Fort Wayne and Allen County Highway held a public open house for the North Clinton Street Improvements Project on Wednesday evening. For those unable to attend, information is available and comments will be accepted at //engage.cityoffortwayne.org/north-clinton-street-improvements or by calling Lexie Jurek, Environmental Specialist at American Structurepoint, Inc., at (317) 547-5580 for those without internet access. All comments are requested by August 30, 2024. Comments will be considered as the project advances; however, formal responses to comments will not be provided.

The need for the North Clinton Street Improvements Project arises from an anticipated increase in traffic volumes and resulting congestion. Additionally, there is a lack of connectivity of pedestrian facilities along North Clinton Street. The project's purpose is to provide a roadway that can effectively accommodate future traffic volumes and operate at an acceptable level of service during the design year of 2048 while increasing pedestrian connectivity.

The scope of the project is not fully defined but may include widening Clinton Street throughout the project corridor and adding new pedestrian facilities. The public information meeting aimed to offer all interested persons an opportunity to learn about the project location, anticipated schedule, and provide comments before advancing the project.

This federally funded project (Des. Nos. 1901703 (Lead), 2300719, 2300720, and 2300721) involves cost-sharing of 80/20 with the City of Fort Wayne through the Indiana Department of Transportation. The construction is planned in three phases: one funded by Allen County and two City phases bid through INDOT in 2028 and 2030.
