Jim Banks, a U.S. Congressman representing Indiana’s 3rd district since 2017, recently shared his views and legislative efforts through social media posts. Banks, who previously served in the Indiana Senate and was born in Columbia City, Indiana, addressed several topics including military leadership, educational accountability, and immigration costs.
On March 12, 2025, Jim Banks expressed his support for Lt. Gen. Dan Caine (U.S. Air Force, Ret.), who has been chosen by President Trump to be Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. "Today, I met with Lt. Gen. Dan Caine (U.S. Air Force, Ret.), President Trump’s choice to be Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff," he stated. He emphasized Caine's role as a top military advisor and expressed full support for him.
The following day on March 13, 2025, Banks highlighted his legislative initiative aimed at universities through a tweet about his proposed bill named the No Tax Dollars for Encampments Act. "Our tax dollars shouldn’t fund institutions that act as safe havens for anti-American harassment & violence," he declared.
Later on the same day, Banks raised concerns regarding the financial burden placed on Indiana taxpayers due to criminal aliens. "Criminal aliens cost hardworking taxpayers in Indiana $900+ million per year," he remarked while questioning why Democrats expect Hoosiers to bear this expense.
