Jim Banks, a U.S. Congressman representing Indiana's 3rd district since 2017, has been vocal about his legislative moves on Twitter. Banks, who began serving in Congress after Marlin Stutzman, has a history in the Indiana Senate from 2010 to 2016 and holds a degree from Indiana University Bloomington.

On March 26, 2025, Jim Banks announced his introduction of a bill aiming to defund National Public Radio (NPR), arguing that "Tax dollars shouldn’t fund anti-American propaganda."

Later that day, in another post, Banks tweeted about a bill focused on military spouses, stating, "My bill ensures veterans and their spouses are laid to rest with the respect they have earned."

On March 27, 2025, Banks reiterated his stance on NPR's funding by stating the composition of its editorial staff as a concern. Banks claimed that "NPR’s editorial staff has 87 registered Democrats and 0 Republicans," thus justifying his legislative actions to halt funding on account of perceived "liberal propaganda."
