Fort Wayne Community Schools (FWCS) has announced the creation of the Higher Education Coalition, a partnership with seven local colleges and universities. The coalition aims to increase access to higher education for FWCS students.

The announcement comes as part of several initiatives highlighted by FWCS. A tentative two-year agreement was also presented between FWCS and the Fort Wayne Education Association (FWEA), which represents teachers, during the October 13 meeting of the FWCS Board of School Trustees.

Additionally, Study Connection marked its 37th year by hosting its annual Celebration and Recognition Breakfast, recognizing ongoing efforts to connect with students.

FWCS reported an 82.5% passing rate on the 2024-25 IREAD-3 assessment. This marks five consecutive years of growth in student literacy rates and surpasses pre-pandemic performance levels.

In another initiative, Costco provided a donation that, along with support from FWCS employees, will allow 380 backpacks filled with school supplies to be distributed to students.
