Rep. Marlin Stutzman, a U.S. Congressman from Indiana, posted a series of statements on July 26, 2025, addressing ongoing conflicts in the Middle East and his stance on immigration policy.
In his first post, Stutzman commented on the situation involving Hamas and regional stability: "The path to peace cannot be obtained while Hamas continues to have power and holds civilian hostages. Later that day, he criticized French President Emmanuel Macron's recent actions regarding the conflict: "I strongly condemn the actions of President Macron this week. As a beacon of justice and democracy to the rest of the world, the United States cannot sit by as other countries validate the brutal actions of Hamas in the name of Palestine’s political agenda." On immigration policy, Stutzman outlined his position with another statement: "My immigration stance is clear. NEVER should someone from a different country who enters illegally be allowed to vote, be counted in the census, or be involved in our electoral process in ANYWAY! I am proud to co-sponsor the Equal Representation Act introduced by" (July 26, 2025).
These posts come amid ongoing debates about U.S. foreign policy toward Israel and Palestine as well as domestic discussions over voting rights and representation for immigrants. The Equal Representation Act referenced by Stutzman is part of legislative efforts aimed at restricting participation in federal elections and census counts to citizens only.
