Indiana Wesleyan University recently issued the following announcement.
Indiana Wesleyan University alum Kassidy Bye went from being unsure of God’s call on her life to knowing exactly what she was created for—all because of IWU’s Transition to Nursing (TTN) program.
Bye graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology in 2015. At that point in her life, she knew she was passionate about people, but was unsure about how God was going to use that passion.
That’s when she began her role as an admissions counselor for IWU. Using her gift for serving others, she had the opportunity to come alongside hundreds of students and their families in the midst of the college search process.
In her role, Bye frequently asked prospective students what they felt God had called them to do with their lives. Ironically, she did not feel that she could answer that question herself—until she began to feel the call to marry her passion for people with a profession in nursing.
“I was seeking a role that would allow me to meet the tangible needs of people and improve their lives,” said Bye. “I had always been interested in healthcare, but didn’t see it as an option for me until God began to open my eyes to the strengths He’s given me and how He wanted to use those to care for people through nursing.”
Bye followed her calling and enrolled in IWU’s TTN program, an accelerated 14-month nursing program for individuals with a bachelor’s degree in another field. The course of study includes 63 credit hours of nursing coursework and culminates in a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree. Classes provide a solid foundation in nursing skills and include leadership and nursing research in the clinical setting.
“Having completed my first bachelor’s degree at IWU and then having worked there as an employee for five years, I was confident in the high quality of education I would receive,” said Bye. “I also loved that I could go through the program with a cohort of awesome, intelligent people who were striving after the same goal.”
Bye graduated with her BSN from the TTN program in December 2021. Shortly after, she passed the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) and began working as a registered nurse in the Emergency Department at IU West Hospital in Avon, Indiana.
“One of the most rewarding parts of the TTN program was completing my BSN at an accelerated pace, which allowed me to begin my dream job that much quicker,” said Bye. “I wouldn’t have wanted to get my BSN any other way!”
