Washington, DC - Today, Rep. Jim Baird (IN-04), Chair of the Agriculture Subcommittee on Conservation, Research, and Biotechnology, hosted a briefing alongside Science, Space, and Technology Committee Chair Frank Lucas (OK-03) to discuss the significance of agriculture biotechnology. The event aimed to shed light on how biotechnology can revolutionize agricultural practices, benefit farmers economically, and bolster national security.

Rep. Baird emphasized the crucial role of technology and innovation in modern agriculture, stating, “Agriculture is increasingly connected to technology and innovation, especially as we look to our farmers and ranchers to meet global food demand.” He highlighted the importance of ensuring access to agricultural technology without unnecessary regulatory hindrances.

Dr. Genya Dana, Chief Strategy and Bioeconomic Development Officer at BioMADE, underscored the potential of biotechnology to benefit various sectors across the nation, stating, “Biotechnology is poised to benefit all of America, from the coasts to the heartland.” She emphasized the role of bioindustrial manufacturing in utilizing American-grown crops to produce a wide range of everyday products, which could contribute to rural development and job creation.

The event also featured a panel of experts, including Kyle Kunkler from the American Soybean Association, Fan-Li Chou from the American Seed Trade Association, and Dr. Genya Dana from BioMADE, who provided further insights into the opportunities and challenges associated with agriculture biotechnology.
