Rep. Jim Banks (IN-03) has recently revealed that his office is now open to submissions for the 2024 Congressional Art Competition, a platform specifically for high school students within Indiana’s 3rd District. The winning artwork from the district competition will be showcased at the U.S. Capitol for a year, with the victorious artist receiving two tickets to Washington D.C. from Southwest Airlines for an upcoming reception.
The theme for the 2024 contest is Indiana, allowing for artistic interpretations that capture the essence of the state. According to Rep. Banks, this theme can encompass various aspects such as Hoosier satisfaction, admiration for the state's cities or countryside, as well as a sense of devotion and connection to the United States.
Submissions for the competition must be sent in by 5:00 PM on Monday, April 22, via email to RepBanks.Art@mail.house.gov or by arranging for a pickup with the office before the deadline. The submission email should include a high-resolution image of the artwork in PDF, JPEG, or PNG format, along with a signed Student Release Form. The subject line of the email should be "2024 Congressional Art Competition Submission," and the body of the email should provide essential details such as the student's name, school name, art teacher's name, grade level, artwork title, medium used, and a description explaining how the piece aligns with this year's theme and its personal significance to the student.
For full competition regulations and guidelines, interested participants can visit the Congressional Art Competition page on Congressman Banks' website.
This initiative not only encourages artistic expression among high school students but also offers them a unique opportunity to have their work displayed in a prestigious setting, fostering creativity and talent within the community.
