Ron Turpin is running for the Republican nomination to serve on the Allen County Board of Commissioners representing District 1 for a four-year term. The primary will be held on May 7.

Turpin's campaign has three main pillars, according to his campaign website. The focus areas are making the local government "accountable and accessible" to constituents, having "collaborative conversations" with emergency services across the county, and making "transparent" relationships between all levels of government and between the private and public sectors.

Turpin currently holds several other civic positions. In addition to being an elected member of the East Allen County School Board, he also serves on a number of local, state, and national boards, and the Northeast Indiana Strategic Development Commission, which he chairs.

According to his LinkedIn page, Turpin is Senior VP and Doden Legacy Office Executive Director at Ambassador Enterprises. Prior to working at Ambassador Enterprises, he was a senior adviser to the president at University of St. Francis, principal and CFO at Gibson Insurance Agency, and Vice President of Finance at Lincoln Financial Group. He earned a BS in pre-law from Indiana State University and a JD from Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law.

Turpin and his wife Kathleen have been married for 27 years and have two children. In addition to being a licensed attorney in Indiana with a focus on tax law, Turpin is also licensed by the state as a Certified Public Accountant.

The Allen County Board of Commissioners acts in both executive and legislative capacities. Responsibilities include receiving bids for projects and services and signing contracts, making zoning and planning decisions, supervising construction and maintenance of county roads and bridges, and operating and maintaining all county facilities. The commission is made of three members, each representing one district.
