The new school year is approaching, and Fort Wayne Community Schools (FWCS) is marking the occasion with its annual FWCS Back-to-School Block Party. The event aims to offer students entering kindergarten, sixth, and ninth grades a preview of their upcoming school year to alleviate first-day anxieties.
Community volunteers will lead teams to clean, paint, and enhance the landscaping at eight FWCS buildings from 8 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, July 17. This effort is part of a special Day of Caring sponsored by United Way of Allen County.
Additionally, FWCS will host its annual ignitED conference, a technology and innovation event for educators. The conference will take place from 7:45 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, July 17, at Northrop High School located at 7001 Coldwater Road.
In related news, the Fort Wayne Community Schools Board of School Trustees welcomed Antonette “Toni” Payne during a swearing-in ceremony held on Monday, June 24.
