A tentative two-year contract agreement between Fort Wayne Community Schools (FWCS) and the Fort Wayne Education Association (FWEA), the union representing teachers, was presented at the FWCS Board of School Trustees meeting on Monday, October 13.

The district also highlighted several other developments. The Study Connection program marked its 37th year by holding its annual Celebration and Recognition Breakfast, acknowledging its ongoing efforts to connect with students.

FWCS reported positive results from the 2024-25 IREAD-3 assessment, achieving an 82.5% passing rate. This is the fifth consecutive year of growth in the district's literacy scores, and the results surpass pre-pandemic levels.

In addition, FWCS announced that 380 backpacks filled with school supplies will be distributed to students. This effort is supported by a donation from Costco and contributions from FWCS employees.

The district is also introducing Nutrislice for the 2025-26 school year. The digital platform will allow families to access daily breakfast and lunch menus from any smartphone, tablet, or computer.
