Fort Wayne Community Schools (FWCS) is set to host its annual "Principal for a Day" event on October 16, inviting over 50 community members to participate. The initiative aims to foster community engagement by allowing local individuals to step into the role of a school principal for a day.
The event coincides with National Walk & Roll to School Day, which will be celebrated across FWCS. Additionally, Harrison Hill Elementary will mark its centennial with festivities involving students, staff, alumni, and the community.
In recent administrative matters, the Fort Wayne Community Schools Board of School Trustees reviewed the proposed budget for 2025 on September 9. The budget projects a slight increase; however, it is anticipated that the tax rate will decrease.
FWCS will also recognize its top educators at an upcoming ceremony at the Wendy Y. Robinson Family & Community Engagement Center. Honorees include the 2024 Teachers of the Year and Employee of the Year, along with other finalists.
