Jim Banks, a current member of the U.S. Congress representing Indiana’s 3rd district, has taken to social media to express his views on various political issues. Banks, who has been serving since 2017 after succeeding Marlin Stutzman, shared his support for President Trump and voiced concerns about a recent Senate vote.
On January 22, 2025, Jim Banks posted on Twitter in support of President Trump and advocated for Doug Collins as the next VA Secretary. He wrote: "President Trump was a great President for our veterans in his first term and will do EVEN MORE the next four years! Confirm @RepDougCollins to be our next VA Secretary! Fellow veteran, former colleague and friend ".
Later that day, Banks highlighted an upcoming Senate vote concerning legislation he co-sponsored with Senator James Lankford. He tweeted: "Today the Senate will vote to advance my bill with @SenatorLankford to protect babies who survive abortions. Providing lifesaving care to newborns should not be controversial!".
Subsequently, following the Senate vote where Democrats opposed the bill he supported, Banks expressed disappointment. He stated: " EVERY Senate Democrat just voted AGAINST my bill with @SenatorLankford that would provide lifesaving care to newborns who survive abortions. This isn’t about politics. This is basic human dignity. Very disappointing!".
