Today, Congressman Jim Baird expressed approval following the House Agriculture Committee's progress on its section of the One Big, Beautiful Bill. The bill marks a significant move towards passing the Farm Bill, aiming to support farmers and rural America.

Congressman Baird stated, “I was proud to vote to advance the House Agriculture Committee’s portion of the One Big, Beautiful Bill. This legislation represents an important step toward passing the Farm Bill to properly invest in our farmers, growers, and producers and prioritize rural America.”

The committee's segment includes reforms to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). Baird criticized Democrat colleagues for allegedly misleading public perception regarding these changes. He emphasized that the reforms do not exclude vulnerable groups such as children or veterans from accessing nutrition.

Baird further elaborated that the bill seeks to prevent non-citizens from receiving SNAP benefits unless they hold green cards. It also aims to close work requirement waiver loopholes, address perceived administrative overreach by the Biden Administration, eliminate fraud, and incentivize employment opportunities for Americans.

He concluded with optimism about advancing this legislation through Congress: “Republicans are putting our farmers and American citizens first and strengthening our federal programs for those truly in need. I look forward to passing this legislation through the full House and Senate and sending this One Big, Beautiful Bill to President Trump’s desk soon.”
