Fort Wayne Community Schools (FWCS) reported an 82.5% passing rate on the 2024-25 IREAD-3 assessment, marking the fifth consecutive year of improvement. The district noted that this result surpasses pre-pandemic literacy performance levels.

"Fort Wayne Community Schools is proud of the results from the 2024-25 IREAD-3 assessment, with the district achieving an 82.5% passing rate. This marks the fifth consecutive year of growth and exceeds pre-pandemic performance levels, representing sustained positive momentum in student literacy achievement," according to a statement from FWCS.

In addition to academic progress, FWCS highlighted community support for students ahead of the new school year. A donation from Costco and contributions from district employees will provide 380 backpacks filled with school supplies for students in need.

The district also announced it will introduce Nutrislice for the 2025-26 school year. This digital platform will allow families to access daily breakfast and lunch menus on various devices.

As preparations continue for the upcoming term, FWCS is organizing its annual Back-to-School Block Party. Transition Day is scheduled for Tuesday, July 29, giving sixth graders entering middle school and ninth graders starting high school a chance to adjust before classes begin.
