Rep. Marlin Stutzman, a U.S. Congressman from Indiana, made several statements on his social media account between September 8 and 9, 2025, addressing criminal justice issues and redistricting efforts.

On September 8, Stutzman commented on the murder of Iryna Zarutska, stating: "Iryna Zarutska's murder was preventable. Decarlos Brown was a repeat violent offender who never should have been released. When will Democrats finally come around to accepting it’s time to stop releasing criminals and let @POTUS use the National Guard to clean up their mess?"

The following day, he questioned the support behind a petition in California, writing: "I wonder how many of these 9,000 signatures also are in favor of California’s redistricting effort? Republicans are pushing redistricting as an answer to census manipulation and gerrymandering practices of blue states. HOOSIERS DESERVE EQUAL REPRESENTATION IN CONGRESS" This statement reflects ongoing debates about redistricting processes across the United States.

Later that same day, Stutzman promoted an upcoming media appearance: "Catch me LIVE on Meet the Press NOW!"

Redistricting has been a contentious issue in recent years. Efforts in California and other states have drawn national attention as lawmakers debate how best to ensure fair representation and address concerns over gerrymandering. Congressional Republicans have argued that new district maps are necessary to counteract what they see as manipulation of census data by Democratic-led states.
