Senator Jim Banks, a U.S. Senator from Indiana, posted a series of tweets on October 14 and 15, 2025, reflecting on the legacy of Charlie Kirk and commenting on recent events involving the late conservative activist.

On October 14, Senator Banks marked what would have been Charlie Kirk’s birthday by stating, "Today, we honor the life of Charlie Kirk on what would have been his 32nd birthday. Charlie was a loving husband, father, and warrior whose passion for open and honest debate on college campuses inspired many young conservatives across America. We will never forget his legacy."

Later that day, Senator Banks shared his attendance at a White House ceremony honoring Kirk posthumously. He wrote, "I was honored to be at the White House today to see President Trump present Charlie Kirk’s wife Erika with the Medal of Freedom on his behalf. Charlie should still be with us today but his legacy will live on forever."

On October 15, Senator Banks responded critically to The New Yorker by posting, "Really gross @NewYorker".

Charlie Kirk was known as the founder of Turning Point USA, an organization focused on promoting conservative values among students. The Presidential Medal of Freedom is the highest civilian honor in the United States and is awarded for especially meritorious contributions to national interests or security, world peace, or cultural endeavors.

Senator Jim Banks has served as an advocate for conservative causes in Congress and has frequently commented on issues related to free speech and campus debates.
