Washington, D.C. - Today, Congressman Jim Baird (IN-04) stood firm in his opposition to H.Res. 1102, the Further Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2024, citing concerns over fiscal responsibility and border security.

In a statement, Rep. Baird voiced his disappointment with the spending bill, stating, “Washington’s spending addiction has spiraled completely out of control.” He emphasized his commitment to prudent financial management and safeguarding American interests.

While acknowledging the importance of certain provisions, such as military pay raises and enhancing military capabilities, Rep. Baird expressed his reservations regarding other aspects of the bill. He highlighted his concerns about "pro-abortion provisions in the package and sending more taxpayer money to Ukraine."

Reflecting on his constituents' expectations, Rep. Baird affirmed, "The people of Indiana sent me to Washington to ensure their tax dollars are spent wisely, not continue business as usual." He reiterated his dedication to upholding fiscal responsibility and representing the interests of his constituents.

Closing his statement, Rep. Baird underscored his rejection of the spending deal, which he criticized as being backed by "Biden’s allies in Congress." He stated, "I’m proud to uphold my commitment to fiscal responsibility and reject this flawed spending deal that was overwhelmingly supported by Biden’s allies in Congress."
