Rep. Marlin Stutzman, a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Indiana's 3rd district, posted a series of tweets on November 11, 2025, highlighting diplomatic developments between the United States and Syria, as well as commemorating Veterans Day.

In his first post on November 11, Stutzman commented on discussions between U.S. President Joe Biden and Syrian President Al-Sharaa: "Pleased that @POTUS and President Al-Sharaa had a productive conversation about relations between our two countries.

The Syrian people have a chance to rebuild and flourish again, and I pray that Al-Sharaa remains steadfast in his commitment to religious freedom and free spech https://t.co/rpu0b5GnvX".

Later the same day, Stutzman described his own engagement with the Syrian leader: "Productive meeting with Syrian President al-Sharaa in Washington as we work towards making religious freedom in Syria a reality.

The Syrian people are ready for peace! https://t.co/WiCE1yQpAr".

In an additional tweet posted that afternoon, Stutzman marked Veterans Day by stating: "Today we honor our great nation’s veterans. Thank you for your service in protecting the United States and defending our freedom. https://t.co/Z1cG8YUkml".

These posts follow ongoing efforts by members of Congress to support diplomatic engagement in the Middle East while emphasizing human rights concerns such as religious freedom. Historically, relations between the United States and Syria have been complex due to longstanding political tensions and civil conflict within Syria. Recent statements suggest a renewed focus on diplomacy amid changing regional dynamics. Stutzman's reference to Veterans Day aligns with annual national observances honoring U.S. military service members.
