In other developments, Fort Wayne Community Schools (FWCS) has announced the creation of the Higher Education Coalition. This new partnership involves seven local colleges and universities and aims to increase access to higher education for FWCS students. A tentative two-year agreement between FWCS and the Fort Wayne Education Association (FWEA), which represents teachers, was presented at the Oct. 13 meeting of the FWCS Board of School Trustees. The terms of this agreement are pending approval from both parties.

FWCS reported an 82.5% passing rate on the 2024-25 IREAD-3 assessment, marking five consecutive years of improvement in student literacy rates. This result surpasses pre-pandemic levels and reflects continued progress in reading achievement across the district.
