Cost of college went up for all students at Indiana University-Purdue University-Fort Wayne

In-state tuition and fees rose 1.4 percent for 2018-19 at Indiana University-Purdue University-Fort Wayne, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Indiana residents paid $8,450 to attend the four-year public institution this year – $120 more than the $8,330 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 140.1 percent more than residents this year, or $20,288. Their price tag grew 1.4 percent from $20,005 in 2017-18.

About 91 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Indiana residents. About 6 percent are residents of other states and 2 percent are citizens of other countries.

Data shows 90 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 1,043 students received grants or scholarships totaling $8.4 million and 729 students took out student loans totaling more than $3.8 million.

Including all undergraduates (10,139), 5,147 students used grants or scholarships totaling $35.6 million, and 3,706 students took out $21.6 million in federal student loans.
