Gabrielle Fanning Named to United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-Region Second Team
The United Soccer Coaches organization announced that Purdue Fort Wayne women's soccer graduate student Gabrielle Fanning earned a place on the Women's Scholar All-North/Central Region Second Team.
The six-year player for the Mastodons was named to the United Soccer Coaches All-Region Second Team earlier this year after leading Purdue Fort Wayne to its best season in program history. The Mastodons finished the year 9-4-6 and 5-1-4 in Horizon League play en route to the No. 2 seed in the Horizon League Championship.
She owns a 3.94 GPA in her speech language pathology graduate program after earning a 3.81 GPA while double-majoring in communication sciences and disorders and general studies.
Fanning became the program's all-time leader in career appearances and starts in her final season with the 'Dons. She was an All-Horizon League First Team pick and Horizon League Championship All-Tournament Team selection after leading Purdue Fort Wayne to a program-best eight shutouts from the center back position.
Fanning is the first player in program history to earn a place on a United Soccer Coaches Women's Scholar All-Region team. She leaves the Purdue Fort Wayne program as one of the most decorated Mastodons in program history.
