Higgins and Johnson Each Knock in Two in Loss at Wright State
Purdue Fort Wayne dropped a Horizon League baseball contest at Wright State on Sunday (March 19) by the score of 13-4.
Grant Thoroman and Jacob Walker each had two hits for the Mastodons. Cade Nelis walked three times. Caileb Johnson and Ben Higgins each drove in two runs.
The 'Dons were down 3-0 entering the third when they put one on the board to make it a 3-1 game. Higgins had the RBI to score Walker.
It was a 6-1 score the next inning prior to the 'Dons scoring three times. Higgins walked with the bases loaded and then Johnson singled in a pair. It made it a 6-4 score after three and a half innings. It would be as close as the 'Dons would get.
Gehrig Anglin drove in four runs and scored twice thanks to a home run and a single for Wright State.
Jacob Myer started and took the loss after 2.2 innings of work. Chris Gallagher of Wright State threw 3.2 innings in relief to get the win.
The 'Dons are back in action on Tuesday (March 21) in non-league play at Bowling Green.
Purdue Fort Wayne falls to 4-16 (1-2 Horizon League). The Raiders improve to 8-10 (2-1 Horizon League).
